Michael Fantozzi was born in Rome in 1984. An Italian-American citizen, he spent his childhood between Rome and New York, where he developed an early artistic sensitivity, nurtured by visits to museums and iconic places of contemporary culture in both Italy and the United States. He currently lives in Santa Marinella, on the northern coast of Lazio.
After attending a scientific high school and later studying languages at university, he pursued a career in real estate, while continuing to cultivate his true passion: art. A self-taught artist, Michael has been painting since a young age, beginning with small, textural works and an instinctive use of acrylic color. His training, initially rooted in classical painting, evolved into a freer and more atmospheric visual language, where matter interacts with space.
His works range from painting to 3D clay sculptures, all handcrafted and embellished with fine materials such as zircons. His subjects focus on environmental issues—especially marine pollution—using a direct and poetic language, often infused with irony and sarcasm. Through compositions rich in symbols and messages, Michael gives voice to marine life and the natural world, drawing inspiration from the colors of the Mediterranean, urban impressions, and the sounds of nature.
After years of private creation, thanks to the encouragement of gallerists and art professionals, Michael began exhibiting his work. Since then, his artistic journey has gained momentum, leading him to participate in art fairs, galleries, and exhibitions throughout Italy and abroad. His works have been shown in Portugal, the Netherlands, France, Germany, Malta, Romania, Belgium, Spain, Luxembourg, and the United States, earning international recognition and inclusion in several prestigious art biennials, including those in Milan, Rome, and Florence.
On December 18, 2024, at the Press Room of the Chamber of Deputies in Montecitorio, Rome, Michael Fantozzi was awarded the title of “Italian Excellence in the Promotion of Made in Italy”, in the presence of Members of Parliament Christian Di Sanzo and Fabio Porta, along with other distinguished figures from the Italian cultural and professional scene.
One of his works, Sea Symphony, is now part of the permanent collection of the Museum of Art in Tolentino.
In 2025, he was selected for the prestigious Premio Arte, Cairo Editore, one of the most important awards in contemporary Italian art—further confirmation of the originality and strength of his artistic research.
